This is Day 2 of my Deltarune (re)playthrough, and coincidentally, it's also time to run through Chapter 2. Not sure whether this will my favorite chapter overall, but it's definitely my favorite theme out of all the chapters (I mean, look where you're reading this from).
Gonna try to be a lot quicker this time so updates might not be as plentiful.
Chapter 2
Susie's the best. I like the arc she went through last chapter, and she's still great in this one too. But going from one chapter to another in days rather than years has a part of me feeling like maybe her change of heart happened too quickly. I feel silly thinking about it, but then again the day before she was calling Kris a freak, and now they're both good chums. I dunno; I gues they made fast friends down there to speed up the story. Maybe I'd be happier too if I realized I had the power to save the world.

The Hacker is my favorite NPC in this chapter (obviously). Love the visual gag with him at the Mansion.

Truth be told, I think Berdly is great here. Lots of times when a character is characterized as nerdy to a fault, I don't really like them as much. Not here though. Maybe it's because the humor lands for me; or maybe because of how I can see my high school self in him breaking out of his comfort zone, idk. Plus his ignorance is funny to watch at points ("I thought you were a GAMER").
Posting for posterity as I once thought no other Lightner could see Ralsei other than Kris or Susie.

That damned Spamton.
I remember trying to draw fanart of him digitally with nothing but a mouse. It was not very good lol but it was experience nonetheless.
Just like with Jevil, looks like Spamton got suckered in to something too good to be true. I mean if you're running a dead end auto dealership, I guess you'd take anything to get out of there. Though, he seems more aware of Kris's predicament than the jester.

Wonder what was in Jockington's castle room that would make Noelle appreciate it? I think they're in a club together if memory serves me right.
So if I'm reading this right, Castle Town has a Grand Fountain that's made up of pure darkness, one where every Darkner can coexist. But the fountains of each individual Darkner is incompatible with each other, as seen by Lancer/Rouxls here. I guess it would be fitting for a Prince of Darkness to remain unaffected by jumping from dark world to dark world. That's kinda cool actually.
Just what is this pure darkness' counterpart in the Light World? And how does Ralsei teleport to these worlds in the first place?

Idk when I picked this up but as a kid I started saying "MIKE TV!!!" at anything I thought it'd be funny to name. It's a strange feeling now that a character like that exists now (maybe).

To think such a powerful idea such as the suit drawn by Mettaton (or at least his Deltarune equivalent) for it to be hidden under Queen's basement... and for Spamton to want it. Is this where Queen drew her inspiration from?
Unrelated, but why is Deltarune running the fans on my PC so high? It can't be that graphically intensive, and yet it's warming up the laptop.
Back to Spamton, I wonder if by wanting Kris to be on his side, he means Kris specifically and excluding us the players, since he's trying to take the SOUL out of them after all. It feels satisfying aiming the Yellow Soul charges at him.
"WAIT! F-[FUCK] THE PRESSES!" Still think about that Jerma line read every time I fight him. Overal an easier time fighting Spamton than Jevil. Though, that's true with three party members...
I feel so bad every time I go down here, and it's not even the supposed "worst" route. Kris didn't want this, but we do, to satisfy our greed for information. My hope is that something good comes out of all this eventually.

The 2F guest room in Queen's Mansion has to be my favorite room for two jokes alone. You'll have to see it for yourself.
This section is so silly lol. The juxtaposition of medieval Scooby Doo chase music to a song meant to be played for lighthearted moments in an anime can't be beat. I just so happened to have made a cover for this already (too lazy to update the music section atm).

Ralsei is still learing how to be a friend. Same here buddy.
I've noticed I haven't really said anything about Noelle much. She obviously has a lot going on in her life: missing sister, sick father, strict mother. And yet she tries putting on a smile wherever she goes. It's cool that we get to learn about her long time friendship with Kris, plus the fact that she doesn't just like everything sunshine and candy canes. I guess when I first played this chapter initially, I didn't expect we would see much of her after Chapter 1, but I was wrong.
There's probably more to her given the whole angel theme going on. Just wondering how she'll be able to help out those she cares for out in the real world.
Ok if I spend time talking about every single detail that I love about this chapter, I'm never finishing this tonight.

Figured to give some common courtesy in case folks wanna experience this on their own, so I'm collapsing my thoughts on the chapter ending here.
Chapter 2 Ending Spoilers
Damn. The one-two punch of Queen and Giga Queen, the drop of lore by Ralsei, and the new information picked up from the Light World. There's just so much to analyze. It almost made me forget that Queen mentioned determination as something all Lightners possess.
God I love the Punch Out surprise. It was so cool and I feel like an expert playing it now lol. Feels like something they'd make for the penultimate chapter, but morphin' time doesn't wait for anyone it seems.
Dunno if anyone else thought about this, but the situation in which Noelle talks back to Queen as if she's her mom had my mind jump back to Steven Universe. There was this episode where Stevonnie crashed into an unknown planet, and found themselves also in a dream. Specifically, the scenario in which they talked back to Connie's mom as if she was a leader herself is what reminded me of it. Though, the difference is that Noelle doesn't want to pursue building an empire, while Pink Diamond (Stevonnie in the dream) does.
"Where everything can be healed with a little spell" spoken by Noelle feels like something that might be tested in later chapters.
What would a Neo Dark Fountain look like..? Must be something serious if Ralsei starts to snap at people for it.

Shadow Mantle..? Seam talks about how the next secret boss is impossible to beat without it. Oh crap did I forgot about it or something? Hope not.
Out in the Light World now. I'm remembering a beautifully crafted comic that theorized that Alvin was the Roaring Knight, taking the pen that his father used to create worlds in fiction to turn them into reality. I'll link it here if I remember to later.
...maybe there's some merit to this theory? At the very least, there's something going on with this guy to get special dialog once leaving the cemetery. We'll just have to wait & see.
Things to keept track of for tomorrow:
- Visit Mettaton(?)'s house with something entertaining
- See Onionsan again (heard a new song that's not new?)
- Keep finding eggs to hide
- Find out what's the deal with the third secret boss and the Shadow Mantle
For Chapter 1's ending, I didn't have much to go off of. I mean, yeah one could interpret it as Kris doing evil, but like, what more could you go from there? It did leave for a good cliffhanger though.
This one, holy shit. You actually get to see a dark fountain get created. And now with the possibility of two new Lightners getting involved (Toriel and possibly Undyne), ooh I'm just excited to see what happens next. Tired, but glad to be fully prepared for more.
